Mechanic dies due to workplace accident in Pennsylvania

Every employee is entitled to work in a safe and secure workplace. Unsafe working environments may cause serious injury or even death to a worker. In fact, federal and state agencies have clear guidelines which govern the safety rules and regulations at any workplace.

Employment laws of Pennsylvania have been enacted to ensure safety of workers at the workplace and prevent workplace accidents. Adequate compensation may be claimed by the worker or his or her family members if any accident occurs in spite of efforts taken to ensure their safety. Employers who fail to take adequate measures to ensure safety of the workers may be punished for violating labor laws.

According to a recent news report, a senior mechanic of Erie Metropolitan Transport Authority was killed due to a traumatic head injury suffered while working at a bus garage. He was highly loved and respected by his co-workers, who described him as a thorough professional who loved his job. An investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the fatal accident.

Following a fatal accident, the family members of the deceased may be entitled to claim compensation for medical expenses as well as other expenses incurred by them. They may also claim damages if the accident was the result of an employer's negligence.

Employers or the insurance companies are required to pay compensation to workers who are unable to work or require medical attention due to a work related injury or illness. Every worker suffering from any illness or injury related to that person's work or family members of workers who died due to workplace injury or work-related illness may wish to seek appropriate compensation from employers. The compensation can help with the financial challenges that may be ahead.
