It doesn't matter where you work or how cautious you are, there could come a point when you are part of a workplace accident. Depending on the type of accident, there's a possibility it could result in a serious injury.
It's important that you understand the most common types of workplace injuries, as this can go a long way in helping you prevent trouble. So, with this in mind, let's examine a few types of accidents that could come into play at your place of employment:
- Vehicle accident: For example, if you drive for a living, you could be involved in an on-the-job accident. The same holds true for vehicles that are used in your workplace, such as forklifts.
- Falling objects: If you work in a warehouse, for instance, an object could fall from above and strike you on the head or another body part.
- Fall from height: Do you work at height, day after day? This is common in the construction industry. Any fall from height, such as off a roof or ladder, can result in injury or death.
- Slip and fall: You can't watch every step you take, which means you may not spot a trip hazard.
These are among the most common types of workplace accidents. If you're injured in one of these accidents, stay where you are until help arrives.
After consulting with your medical team, you may learn that you're unable to return to work right away. In this case, you should learn more about your legal rights under the workers' compensation system.
