Pennsylvania workers have the right to a safe workplace

Industrial workers in Pennsylvania are exposed to various risks in the workplace. Those include unfriendly and difficult work environments, workplace injury and exposure to chemical hazards. Some workplace accidents may lead to temporary or permanent disabilities and some may even lead to the death of the worker. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration and the other concerned authorities have established regulations to ensure safety in the workplace and in the process, prevent many workplace injuries.

Even when workers take precautions it may not always be possible to completely avoid accidents. Some workers may lack the proper training or be unaware of the potential hazards in the workplace. Heavy equipment being used at the work site can malfunction and cause injuries to the worker. A worker who in an environment with hazardous chemicals is at risk of exposure to those chemicals, both by direct contact and by airborne contamination.

All workers have the right to know about all of the potential risks at work. Employers have an obligation to ensure that employees are trained on safety procedures and the employer should also impose strict safety rules. OSHA has established strict guidelines regarding the safety measures that every employer must follow. For example, only workers age 18 or older should be operating heavy equipment, such as a forklift, and should be certified to operate the equipment in question. OSHA also requires employers to monitor employees' exposure to chemical hazards by periodically administering tests and sending samples to check for contaminants.

Despite all of those strict guidelines and measures, many employees may still be working under unsafe or hazardous conditions. When a worker is injured on the job, they have the right to recover workers' compensation benefits. Our law firm has a great deal of experience in representing workers, and we work hard to obtain the best possible outcome for all of our cases.
