On Friday, April 27th, Governor Wolf vetoed the bill the state Legislature recently passed legislation endangering injured workers’ access to medications prescribed by their treating physicians!
This is good news for injured Pennsylvania workers and their doctors as Workers’ Compensation insurance companies will not be able to dictate what drugs workers can be prescribed. Instead, as has happened historically, the injured worker’s doctor will make this decision with the patient.
Adam Crosier, a Certified Worker’s Compensation Specialist at Marzzacco Niven & Associates responded to the good news, “Governor Wolf’s veto of the drug formulary bill is a win for injured workers and will continue to allow their doctors to prescribe a broad range of treatment options that will allow those workers to get proper treatment and be able to get back to work.”
Jesse Rhodeside, an experienced Worker’s compensation lawyer at Marzzacco Niven added, “Governor Wolf’s veto of Senate Bill 936 was the right decision to ensure injured workers in Pennsylvania can receive the medications they require, as determined by the medical professionals who best understand their condition – their treating physicians.”
