Shoulder pain can be extremely difficult to live with, especially if you have a job in which you regularly use this part of your body.
There are many potential causes of work related shoulder pain and injury, including but not limited to:
— Awkward postures
— Working with your arms above your head
— Putting too much pressure on shoulder, such as by regularly lifting heavy items
— Static loading, meaning your muscles have to remain in the same position for an extended period of time
— Hand and arm vibration, such as when using a power tool
— Extreme temperatures
If you work in a physically demanding field, such as construction, there is a chance that you could suffer a shoulder injury at some point. However, this is also the case with officer workers, as this type of injury could develop over time.
The second you begin to experience shoulder pain or discomfort is the second you should receive medical advice. Consulting with an experienced doctor will help you better understand the pain, including the cause and the best treatment strategy.
Depending on the injury, you may need to take time off of work while it heals. If you find yourself in this position, it would be in your best interest to file a claim for workers’ compensation benefits. This will allow you to receive money until you can return to your job. If for any reason your claim is denied, turn your attention to the appeals process with the idea of having the original decision overturned.
